Since 2005, SIM-RTP and the NC State University School of Engineering, Dept. of Computer Science have partnered to bring support in the form of yearly scholarships to rising junior or senior undergraduate students as well as yearly contributions to the NC State Engineering Endowment fund.
The NC State Computer Science Undergraduate Program provides first-rate preparation for employment or graduate research, engages students in research, and enjoys national recognition as a top tier program. The department offers a modern curriculum focusing on fundamental scientific and engineering principles and methods, exposure to cutting-edge technology, and the opportunity to work on exciting problems with real-world impact.
In 2016, our endowment to NC State was officially renamed to the Ed Galloway SIM-RTP Scholarship to honor its founder and technology advocate. Ed was instrumental in identifying the need for chapter involvement with community service. Ed thought that supporting the next generation of technologists would not only help the individual students, but also the chapter to survive. This endowment was created to give back to the community of technologists, helping deserving technology students who might otherwise struggle with tuition requirements.
